DESCRIPTION: Between 1975 and 1979, nearly 2 million Cambodians were killed during the genocidal reign of the Khmer Rouge. Now, after three decades of turmoil, four of the regime’s top leaders are finally being forced to stand trial for their crimes in a UN-backed tribunal. The long-awaited trial known as Case 002, is set to begin this June. More than 2,000 survivors are lining up to provide testimony, and thousands more will be observing the trial closely—making this the biggest news event in Cambodia’s recent past.

Our 10-minute feature story examines the impact of the war crimes tribunal on Cambodians—on an older generation of survivors and perpetrators, and a younger generation learning about it for the first time.
